The Hazara community is an ethnic group originally from Afghanistan with a significant presence in Pakistan. They are refugees that are a forgotten people. Their population is estimated to be between 650,000 and 900,000 in Pakistan. Many of the families we support are secret believers that are being discipled and equipped by a pastor working with us. They face the threat of severe persecution or even death if their faith is discovered.
This article is to bring your attention to the ongoing challenges faced by families that we serve in the Hazara community who routinely face persecution, extreme poverty and discrimination. Restoring Faith, Inc. has had the privilege of assisting them since May 2023. We continue to ask for prayers and support for the Hazara. The support we provide me has been impactful and we pray for continued donations to support the 30 families that we currently assist with food bags and emergency aid.
A testimony from a Hazara woman shows her heartfelt gratitude towards Restoring Faith Inc. for the support provided.
“The assistance from Restoring Faith, Inc. brought immense relief to my family, especially during the Easter period, a time when many of us in the community face persecution and despair. The Taliban are known to target Christians, especially during Christian holy days, going door-to-door to find believers, and have stated intentions to kill any Christians found. This dire situation leaves our community with limited choices for safety and stability.”
This testimony underscores the multifaceted challenges faced by the Hazara community (exact location in Pakistan kept hidden for protection), including security concerns, economic hardships, and systemic discrimination. The field workers on this project testify that the support from Restoring Faith Inc. has been a beacon of hope, providing not only material assistance but also kindness and compassion by the Body of Christ.
The living conditions of the Hazara people are unimaginable. Their neighborhoods lack basic necessities such as electricity, clean water, and sanitation. Even if they want to move to a better area, they cannot do so because they do not have the required documents. Being targeted, they live in fear and isolation. Hazara women suffer from serious healthcare problems, especially during childbirth. Due to a lack of hospitals and medical facilities, many women face complications, and in some cases, both the mother and baby lose their lives.
Finding employment is extremely difficult for Hazara men. As the primary earners for their families, they face legal restrictions and discrimination in securing jobs. They are forced to work in low-paying jobs with difficult working conditions. Some Hazara women work as domestic helpers in people's homes, where they suffer mistreatment and exploitation.
Please pray for the Hazara families. They live lives that none of us would want to live. Be bold with us in giving to these families. You can help make a profound impact in their everyday lives by donating today.

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings,
Who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, your God reigns.”
